Product Description

A good pair of chargers with fine hand painted and gilt scenes in the classic Imari style.

Each charger impressed with the mark “Yamatoku (Mountain Virtue)” in ‘katagana’ characters, indicating that they were produced at the beginning of the Meiji period, around 1870, and both are in fine condition.

Japan, Yamatoku Kiln, Saga Prefecture, on the Island of Kyushu, c. 1870
