A set of eight dinner plates, two large plates and three shallow bowls, decorated with famille rose flowers and the quartered arms of the Pascual family of Valencia, Spain accollee unidentified arms beneath a marquis’s coronet to the rims. The Pascuale arms incorporate their motto Sub Cujus Pede Fons Vivus Emanat.

We are delighted to report that we were contacted recently by Maxim Arrazola de Oñate a direct descendant of the family for whom this service was commissioned and we have received permission to quote his remarks regarding the provenance of this service, thus confirming our attribution:
“Your attribution of the coat of arms on the right to the Pascual family would be correct in my opinion. More so because I can also identify the coat of arms to the left and thus the couple to which this set of dishes belonged.
On the left, we have the coat of arms of Heinrich, count von Callenberg (1685-1772), son of Kurt Reinicke, count von Callenberg (1651-1709) and Ursula Regina Marie von Friesen (1658-1714).
On the right, we find the coat of arms of Thérèse Bernardine, marquise de Pascale (married in 1710, died 1747) daughter of François, marques de Pascale (died 1711) and Lucretia Frampton.
The François de Pascale (or Francisco Pascuale) was a Spaniard and infantry general and commander of the city of Brussels when it was besieged by the French i 1708. He could thwart the attacks and the besiegement ultimately failed. On the 6th of January 1709, King Charles III of Spain awarded François with the title of marquis and the right to apply it to any property he would have or would acquire (turning it in a marquisate, in essence). François had already married an Englishwoman in Brussels, Lucretia Frampton, with whom he had two daughters; Thérèse and Françoise. Françoise, marquise de Pascale is my 7th great grandmother.
I attach the coat of arms of their respective families and also include an outline of the patent of nobility of François de Pascale.”
