Product Description

A fine and early walnut chair with wonderfully figured timbers and a superb mellow honey color. With a yoked crest above a pierced and shaped backsplat, the outscrolled shepherd crook arms have a particularly pleasing shape. The seat is a rare compass design with a (later) silk needlework upholstery. The legs are quite special, the rear having a generous curve and rake to them and the front of cabriole design with a well formed knee over rare hipped hoof feet. Clearly an extremely pleasing design and very desirable.

London, England. c. 1715
