In remarkable original condition, retaining the original beveled mirror-glass to the doors, as well as all its early 18th century hardware.

The upper section with double domes above a pair of doors the original ogee molded mirror-glass. The doors open to reveal a well fitted interior, with an upper shelf above eight cubbyholes, two stacks of four small concave fronted drawers flanking six folio compartments above a further eight cubby holes. The interior centered by two concave cupboard doors opening to reveal a total of eight small cubbyholes with a shelf between. The base of the upper section with two candle pulls over a fall front desk opening to reveal a fully fitted interior with concave fronted drawers matching the upper section, including one long and four short drawers, four shelf sections and six cubbyholes, over an interior well and the original tooled black leather writing surface.

The base with the remarkable inclusion of a secret drawer space hidden behind the ogee molding below the well, above two short and two long drawers over the original molded base terminating with replaced flattened ball feet.

It is hard to overestimate the quality and originality of this remarkable piece. The veneers are a very good choice of the finest burl walnut, the edging feather-banded throughout, the brass work all original and the linings all of the finest straight grain oak. Of its type the quality of this piece cannot be surpassed.
