Product Description

Comprising four armchairs and twelve side chairs this set is of elegant design with superb quality brass inlay, caned seats and saber legs. Very possibly by John Gee, a London chair-maker who specialized in intricate brass inlay in the French taste. Two arm chairs and six side chairs are inlaid in the Boulle manner of “partie” and the remaining chairs in “contra-partie”, making them the first set of English chairs we have seen decorated in this manner. Each chair with a slip cushion in the manner of the period.

English c.1800
