Product Description

This modified Gothic style of Windsor chairs is attributed to the Buckinghamshire area of the Thames Valley and examples are known from c.1790 through the first half of the 19th century. Although some are found with crinoline stretchers, these elm examples have their legs connected by H-form elliptical turned stretchers. The hoop backs with scribed edge line enclose a very pleasing and simple Gothic tracery design.

England, Buckinghamshire c.1800-1820
