DESCRIPTIONSilver bottle coasters are widely available, beautiful and come in a huge range of designs by many of the finest English silversmiths.
Wooden coasters are a different matter. At 5-6 inches diameter they were designed for large bottles and decanters, but being wood were frequently damaged.Probably more prolific in the 18th century than silver examples that have survived into the 21st century mahogany examples are now considered rare, particularly in very good condition.
