The leather to the interior gilt-stamped ‘Edwards, Manufacturer to His Majesty. 21 King Street Bloomsbury. London.’ the silver marked for London,1832-1833, and with maker’s mark ‘A.D’, probably for Archibald Douglas.Of rectangular form with brass edging and a double row of brass stringing,with vacant flush brass cartouche to the top, and brass flush bale handles to the sides, lined to the interior with green velvet and fitted to the underside of the lid with a removable easel mirror and stationery compartments, and to the body with a removable tray fitted with silver-topped glass boxes, jars and four cut-glass bottles, with two concealed small drawers.
